Inspired by a curiosity about our country's careless habit of sending food straight to landfills, the multi award-winning documentary DIVE! follows filmmaker Jeremy Seifert and friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of Los Angeles' supermarkets. In the process, they salvage thousands of dollars’ worth of good, edible food - resulting in an inspiring documentary that is equal parts entertainment, guerilla journalism and call to action.

Eastside Food Co-op to Celebrate Bee-iesta on May 31, 2014
According to the USDA, between 2006 and 2011, beekeepers were losing 33% of their bees each winter, twice the expected loss. One-third of those deaths were attributed to Colony Collapse Disorder, the cause of which is still unknown though pesticides and pathogens have been implicated. Honeybees are responsible for $20 billion in fruit and flower pollination each year, according to University of Illinois etymology professor, May Berenbaum.
We can help create and sustain healthy bee habitat, even in our own back yards!
Join us on the patio and in the granite studio, 2:30p-5:30p on Saturday, May 31st for a Bee-iesta. Learn on how you can make an impact in the lives of these friendly pollinators!
