Eastside Fare

Our FARE program supports the community. This program helps shoppers enrolled in SNAP, MFAP, MFIP and WIC stretch their grocery budget with an everyday discount on fresh produce and affordable staple items for their families.

All shoppers currently enrolled in SNAP, MFAP, MFIP or WIC are eligible to participate in FARE. FARE shoppers receive a 20% discount on fresh fruits and vegetables in our Produce department and affordable staple items throughout the store. Look for the Eastside FARE icon to find discount-eligible, budget-friendly basics in every department.

The fine print:
To confirm your FARE eligibility, simply make a purchase at Eastside using your EBT card once every 90 days to stay enrolled and continue receiving FARE benefits. That’s it! FARE, or Food Access to Restore Equity, is designed to reduce cost barriers to fresh, healthy food for individuals enrolled in SNAP, MFAP, MFIP or WIC.

  • FARE participants receive an everyday 20% discount on fresh fruits and vegetables from our Produce department and affordable staple items throughout the store, as indicated by the Eastside FARE icon. This discount is automatically applied at the register. Participants receive the FARE discount on top of sale prices, coupons, owner discounts and in-store promotions, and receive a maximum 20% discount on FARE-eligible special orders. Eastside staff members eligible to participate in FARE receive an additional 5% off produce and FARE items, on top of their employee discount.

  • An individual may enroll in FARE by showing their current EBT card (issued to Minnesotans receiving SNAP, MFAP, MFIP or WIC benefits) and completing the attached form. It may take up to 24 hours to process enrollment and activate the FARE discount.

  • Participants must make one purchase using their EBT card every 90 days to confirm FARE eligibility, stay enrolled in the program, and continue receiving FARE benefits. The bottom of FARE participants’ receipts will show a date (90 days after their most recent EBT purchase) that indicates the last day of their active FARE status. Making a purchase with an EBT card extends this date an additional 90 days. If no eligible purchases are made in a 90 day period, the participant will stop receiving the FARE discount. An inactive FARE participant automatically reenrolls in the program 24 hours after making an eligible purchase with their EBT card.

  • FARE benefits are intended only for individuals currently receiving SNAP, MFAP, MFIP or WIC benefits and the individual’s dependents and/or spouse or domestic partner.

  • FARE benefits are valid only at Eastside Food Co-op. Participation in FARE is voluntary and separate from co-op ownership. A FARE participant need not be an Eastside owner, but may join at any time should they desire to do so.

  • Eastside Food Co-op reserves the right to modify FARE benefits and eligibility at any time, for any reason.
