Division of Indian Work's (DIW) mission is to support and strengthen urban American Indian people through culturally-based education, traditional healing approaches, and leadership development. This is achieved by focusing on community and delivering programs and services directly or in partnership with other organizations. DIW has been a key contributor to the Native community for more than 65 years by providing programs such as Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP), Strengthening Family Circles, Healing Spirit and Health Services.
DIW is a lead partner in the Indigenous Food Network (IFN), along with Dream of Wild Health. The IFN's goal is to provide food access to the urban American Indian community living in Minneapolis urban area. DIW is committed to a healthy Indigenous diet and plan at our building and our programming. They have hired a Indigenous nutrition coordinator who prepares healthy Indigenous meals for our programs and other partners that visit their building. The nutrition coordinator also has provided meals for elders, youth, and families that are currently dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. DIW is committed to providing healthy food access to our urban American Indian community.
